Watsons Haul feat. Maybelline and Silkygirl

Being a makeup lover means that trips to the grocery store end up becoming makeup hauls. I may not always be proud of that but the joy of coming home with new, shiny products to use is awesome.
So like any other day, I was pulled into the nearby Watsons store to check out the new Maybelline mascara that has launched in Malaysia recently- the Maybelline 'Big Eyes' Mascara.
I had heard of it before through countless American bloggers but I was only able to get my hands on until today.

The mascara is double ended as in there is a separate wand for the upper and lower lashes which seems to be the main selling point and was the main thing that attracted me as well.
After bringing it home and applying it to my lashes, the formula seems very light and comfortable to use as a daily mascara. Plus since it is waterproof, it will be great not to have mascara flowing across my face when the great Malaysian weather decides to bless me with heavy rainfall even though it was bright and sunny when I left the house. Sigh, almost one and a half year gone and still not used to unexpected weather. But now I have this waterproof mascara so I guess it will be a savior for days like that.
Coming back to the mascara; I am not super sold on it yet to be honest as it isn't so amazing and doesn't make your lashes any bigger than they are normally. Note: I didn't really curl my lashes before application as I wanted to see how it performs on its own. Also, part of the reason why I am not super impressed may be the fact that I was using Benefit's They're Real mascara which is super unicorn amazingness on your lashes. Therefore, my opinion on the mascara may be a little harsh now. Maybe if i curl my lashes and apply a few coats, it will definitely be good. Thus, I do like the mascara for daily use and its upper and lower lash wands even though time consuming for days when you have to be out of the door in 5 minutes, are really good.
Now for the rest of the haul, keeping the Maybelline theme in mind first, lets move on to the BB cream.

Since I have really oily and acne prone skin, I was a little skeptical about this product as I don't want to slather on another layer of thick liquid on my face, the fact that the BB cream had 50 SPF, I was sold instantly. Also, my friend who was accompanying me also recommended it so I picked it up instantly. Being fair skinned, I picked up the lightest color; 01 Fresh and after coming home and trying it on, its a perfect match for my skin tone. The formula is similar to that of liquid foundation; its quite thin. It claims to:
  • Brighten skin
  • Even tone
  • Smooth pores
  • Correct appearance of dark spots
  • Conceal imperfections
  • Hydrate skin
  • Protect from UV rays
  • Last 12 hours
It seems to claim a handful of good qualities all BB creams should have and after using it, I can say that coverage wise, it is light and its texture is really smooth and blends very well thus I like it a lot. However it is quite glowy and gives a very luminous effect so I do need to set it with powder as within an hour my skin, especially T-zone gets oily but that isn't a problem as a compact powder is already my best-friend and I carry it with me at all times so a little dab on the T-zone makes me matte in places where I need to be and the rest of my skin stays dewy and glows.

Now for the Color Tattoo:

I may be a little late on the bandwagon as the product is quite old but I was always concerned that my oily eyelids won't really like the cream shadow and they will crease very soon but boy was I wrong! When they claim 24 hours, they mean 24 hours as the color didn't budge and its been on for 4-5 hours now. Oh sorry by the way, I got mine in the color Bad to the Bronze as everyone raves about it a lot. It is indeed a beautiful color and I already know its going to be a staple of mine now. Below is a swatch:

Coming towards Silygirl; this is a brand I had never purchased from before but as my friend swatched a lip liner from its kiosk, she and I both knew we were going to take one home. I got mine in 01 Nude as I was in search of a nude lip liner and I really liked the color of this. After trying it on, I did notice that it was kind of dry on my lips but the color is so beautiful that I am ready to look past that as there's nothing some Vaseline before application can't fix. Here's the lip liner along with a swatch:

The second thing I picked up from there was their Ever Glossy nail polish in a mint color as I was in search for one from the drugstore since ages and now I'm so happy I finally got my hands on one.

You do need 2 coats but it is beautiful nevertheless.

Therefore, I love everything I bought and do recommend everything.
Note for my girls living in Malaysia: There is a sale going on and you can get everything on a promotion price so it is great and I recommend you to run to your nearby Watsons store soon if you want to get your hands on great products on very affordable prices.
